Families in the slum community of Mathare North Quarry, in Nairobi, Kenya suffer frequently from illness due to lack of clean water and proper sanitation. Sickness causes many children to miss school and causes a strain on finances because of money spent visiting health clinics in order to receive treatment.
The WASH (water, sanitation, hygiene) project concentrates on training school children and their families to use the SODIS (solar water disinfection) system to purify their water. It also helps them to practice basic sanitation and hygiene.
Your donation helps families in this community, and others like it, to have access to clean drinking water and better hygiene.
