Lebanon crisis

On Aug. 4, a large explosion killed more than 200 people and injured more than 6,000 others in the capital city of Beirut, Lebanon.

In Canada, MCC is appealing in partnership with the Humanitarian Coalition. MCC is a member of the Humanitarian Coalition through Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

The blast is believed to have been caused by large quantities of ammonium nitrate, used for fertilizer and explosives, stored unsafely in a warehouse at the city’s port.

Together, MCC and its program partners in Beirut will address rehabilitation and cleanup needs arising from this disaster. Our relief efforts will focus on emergency food and hygiene supplies.

MCC welcomes donations to this effort. You can give on this page or by calling our toll-free phone number: (888) 622-6337

Thank you for helping provide restoration to those whose lives have been upended by this explosion.
